Google's E-E-A-T framework — Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trust — is not an algorithm signal per se, but it's the framework Google's quality raters use to evaluate content, and it correlates strongly with ranking performance. For B2B brands, E-E-A-T is increasingly the moat that separates high-ranking content from AI-generated commodity content.

Experience

Experience signals that content comes from someone with firsthand knowledge. In B2B, this means: case studies with real numbers, named clients (where permitted), specific tools and processes named, lessons from actual client engagements, and "from the trenches" perspective that generic content can't replicate.

Expertise

Expertise signals deep domain knowledge. In B2B, this means: bylined content from recognized practitioners, detailed technical accuracy, frameworks with specific methodology, original research and data, and credentials mentioned where relevant (years in industry, certifications, notable clients).

Authority

Authority is the hardest E-E-A-T signal to build and the most valuable. It comes from: backlinks from recognized industry publications, mentions and citations by peers in the industry, being featured in "best of" lists and awards, speaking at industry events, and having a recognized brand in your category.

Trust

Trust signals include: HTTPS, clear privacy policy and terms, transparent authorship (real author names with bios), contact information visible, reviews on G2/Capterra, client logos and testimonials, and no misleading or exaggerated claims.

Build E-E-A-T systematically:

  1. Add author bios with credentials and LinkedIn profiles to all content
  2. Add original data or client insights to existing cornerstone content
  3. Build a digital PR program targeting industry publication coverage
  4. Commission one major original research report annually
  5. Optimize trust signals sitewide (reviews, security badges, contact info)
